The first outing in the Autumn will be an adventure to a venue that has only just opened in parkland close at the north end of the Piccadilly line. TRENT PARK – HOUSE OF SECRETS is a must-see for two reasons. It is a reconstruction of a stately home once occupied by Sir Phillip Sassoon in the 1920s where the ground floor has been magnificently restored, right down to the shipping in of the original furniture stored in Norfolk. But there is an extra surprise: walk through the secret concealed door, descend to the basement, and you will find yourself in another world: that of hidden listening devices relaying the conversations of German Officers held in the mansion during WWII. Their revelations were very much to the advantage of the Allies. In many ways it was a second Bletchley Park in terms of its priceless intelligence-gathering. Booking form here
